Bavarian OktTHROWberfest – not just a tournament, it´s a Disc Golf Festival for everybody

11.6.2013 | Paul Davies. Welcome to the 1st Bavarian OktTHROWberfest! Between the 3rd – 6th Oktober 2013, Paul Davies down Ofterschwang way has organised not just a tournament, but a true Bavarian Festival of Disc Golf where everyone is welcome!

„We in Ofterschwang and Gunzesried have thought out the following format, that we hope to build on as our Festival of 4 disc-golfing days and evening entertainments (Live Music) grows in popularity: 40 Euro Entry-Fee for Adults, 30 Euro for u18´s, 128 Spots (2 Pools of 64 players) on two courses of 16 holes, limited OBs and longer driving chances!“

BOFest-Logo-1Every player will play 4 rounds of 16 holes. On the last day, the best 36 players in the Open Division will play a Semi-Final on 9 holes. Other Divisions will play their Final, again on 9 holes, at the same time. The Top 5 Open players will then complete a “Final” further 9 holes.

A Festival Tent will be on site near Tournament HQ. Players, friends and families can purchase traditional Bavarian snacks and drinks during the Lunch-break and evening´s Live Music / Party sessions.

Alternative Programme:
For non-discgolfers, friends and families, Allgäu offers a variety of other things to do, whilst partners and loved ones are out there doing their thing! Kiddies may play while adults relax, or vice-versa! Short walks away from both courses are traditional local villages and huts to be explored, local delicacies and crafts to be sampled, or maybe strolling through the fresh mountainside countryside and taking the wonderful natural beauty of the area is enough!

Says Paul, „We in Allgäu like to be good hosts. We want disc-golfers from all over to visit our mountainside course(s). We want disc-golfers from all over the place to see just how much fun the sport really can be. Sure, being a PDGA-C tournament means we have to be vigilant about drinking during rounds, and I guess our Motto „Drink & Drive“ may be a little misleading, but essentially it´s something bigger than just a tournament, and most player´s respect that“.
